| Celebrating her tenth birthday with "the most super sleepover ever," Mallory gets caught between a friend's over-the-top ideas and her parents' expectation that she'll act responsibly. From the arrival of unexpected guests to the splat of water balloons in the living room, things get out of hand, but Mallory manages to mop up her mistakes and grow up a bit as well. Friedman vividly portrays how small lapses of judgment lead to unintended consequences, as well as how to apologize with grace. The believable story, large print, and many illustrations make this another enjoyable entry in the Mallory chapter-book series. Copyright 2011 Booklist Reviews. | | | |
| Mallory, turning ten, decides to mark the occasion with the greatest sleepover party ever. When her best friend Mary Ann gets involved with the planning, things quickly go from super to super-messy. Mallory's self-absorption can be a little tiresome, but her willingness to accept some blame for the events demonstrates maturity. Humor and happy endings prevail in this sixteenth installment. | | |
